I Got The Gilman Scholarship!

Hey Everybody!

Today while driving to work I got an email saying I received the Gilman Scholarship! I attached a copy of the email below. I am beyond thankful for receiving this prestigious scholarship. For those who don't know, the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a scholarship opportunity offered from the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The only requirement of this scholarship is you have to be receiving the Pell Grant which makes for the applicant pool to be incredibly large. It is a privilege to have been offered money even though it was less than I needed for the trip. I finish my application on March 19th and was patiently waiting to hear back and I finally did with this excellent news. Part of this scholarship is doing a service project that promotes studying abroad and the Gilman scholarship. My service project will be to continue this blog and to reach out to minority organizations about the opportunity to study abroad and show that even if funds are limited they can apply for scholarships like the Gilman scholarship and have some of the burden lifted. If anyone knows an organization who would like me to come talk to them please contact me.
